About Pixel Peak LAN
What is a LAN Party?
A LAN party – short for Local Area Network party – is a gathering where gamers bring their own computers or consoles to one location and connect them together on a shared network to play games side-by-side. Long before modern online matchmaking, LAN parties were the way friends competed, cooperated, and built gaming communities in the same room. The experience is about more than just the games – it's the energy of a room full of players, the late-night matches, the shared victories, and the friendships that form when everyone is playing together.
How Pixel Peak Was Born
Milworkz has been immersed in gaming since the early '90s, starting with classic PC titles and quickly discovering the magic of playing side-by-side with friends at LAN parties. By the early 2000s, LAN culture had become a defining part of his life — attending, hosting, planning, and helping run events wherever he could haul his gear. RTS, RPG, and FPS games shaped his early years, but the real hook was always the community, the competition, and the shared energy of a room full of gamers.
Since 2005, he's been a regular at QuakeCon and a dedicated supporter of LAN events across the region. After moving to Salt Lake City in 2022, he connected with new friends who introduced him to BoiseLAN, and the spark reignited instantly. On the drive home from BoiseLAN 2024 with Klipper and Compukidmike, one simple question changed everything: Why doesn't SLC have a LAN party of its own anymore? That moment became the blueprint for Pixel Peak LAN.
With a passion for building things that don't yet exist, a love for networking and event infrastructure, and a structured mindset that always includes Plans A, B, and C, Milworkz is committed to bringing LAN culture back to the Salt Lake Valley. Pixel Peak isn't just an event — it's a revival, a community effort, and a promise to keep the LAN tradition alive for years to come.
